AN OASIS OF SUPPORT, SHELTER, AND SERVICES FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS IN CRISIS
Woman Inc. is a voluntary, non-profit, non-governmental organisation [NGO], founded in 1984. Our work is inspired by the creative energies of women and allies from all walks of life that are dedicated to providing assistance to victims of rape, incest, domestic crisis, sexual harassment at the workplace, human trafficking, and domestic violence.
The Jamaica Alumnae Chapter invites you to join us as we intercede to make the transition from crisis to a place of safety easier for women and those escaping difficult situations with their children. The JAC Zip Closet is a variety of critical and useful items placed is gallon-size “zip bags” that are donated to Jamaica’s only Rape Crisis Centre. The items are distributed to women who are residents at the facility to help them navigate their period of transition.
The Centre seeks to assist women in working toward self-empowerment and to gain the necessary insights to handle their particular crisis. As women are empowered, they become more self-assured and this contributes to positive self-esteem and independence.
